Is information technology difficult to motility a thermostat over iv or 5 inches? I bought a new place and the existing i is awful and then I purchased a new white one. When I have information technology inverse out I would love to have it moved over a bit....is this hands doable? Who do you phone call to change out a thermostat? Can most handymen do it? Thanks!

I've noticed lately the aforementioned matter. Those are in the middle of the wall making any picture hanging nearly impossible. I wonder why the builders/architects continue to do that when like you say, it could easily go over 5 inches. Near the corners or doorways would exist ideal.

I wanted to put a shabby chic cathay cabinet there and if I could only go the darn thermostat over a bit it would actually make the room flow better (and non block the common cold air return). Does anyone know if putting a communist china cabinet over a heating vent or cold air return is bad?

I'g guessing the thermostat is hard wired in place. If that'southward the case when you remove the old one, at that place volition be a hole in the wall with wires going downwardly to the furnace. Just had ane that was smack in the heart of a twoscore" wall. Brand new built apartment, first people living in it. Can't become permission to move it from the building. Frustrating. Framed it and put iii other same framed pictures around it. Not the best but it worked.

Moving a thermostat is very like shooting fish in a barrel to do. Like others have said, there should be some actress slack in the wires so you should be able to motion it several inches. And they are like shooting fish in a barrel to swap out equally it is just depression voltage wiring. I would only remove the current thermostat from the wall, probably just using a screwdriver. And while it is yet attached to the wires, see how much slack there is in the line. If you are lucky, they put it in the middle of the wall cavity and y'all volition have plenty of room on both sides to movement it. Utilize a slice of wire - part of a coat hanger will work, and insert it in the wall where the wires come out and see how far it goes to the sides within the wall until it hits a stud. That will tell you how far over yous tin can easily move information technology. If there is enough room, and so a small hole can be cut where you want the new thermostat, and the same coat hanger wire can be used to pull the thermostat wiring over to the new location.
